Digital Spy

Here are the DS spoilers, and my views on them.

Wilf wields a cricket bat.
This is true I think.

Davros has been harvesting bees into a new army of Daleks.
Ooh...

The Daleks know the identity of a certain former Prime Minister.
I reckon so. We did see Harriet Jones in the trailer.

Captain Jack becomes angry at Paul O'Grady's effect on Ianto Jones.
Paul O'Grady is definitley in it so...

A certain body part in a jar is bubbling.
Don't see why not.

A Dalek exterminates the Torchwood pterodactyl.
Noooo....

The fate of a character from 'Voyage Of The Damned' is revealed.
RTD said we find out about Mr. Copper. He did leave a very rich man so, who knows, he could be a meglomaniac. Davros? Nah.

Wilf was banned from using a webcam as there were suspicions over what he might use it for.
Umm, next....

Project Indigo holds the key to salvation.
This is true by reports about things PI.

The Doctor's daughter Jenny is trapped near a black hole, but K-9 is sent to rescue her.
Ooh, maybe...

A Dalek speaks to Mr. Smith.
Mr. Smith is definitley in it, so.... This would be good though.

The Time War was 'time locked', or so thought The Doctor
Possibly....

Turn Left

Welel, wasn't Midnight good. Anyway, we're now left with a week of pure excitment and clouds of speculation floating around. Here, to add to those clouds, are the Digital Spy spoilers for Turn Left.

The true mastermind of the ill fate that happens to Donna in this episode will be familiar to fans of one of the Doctor Who spinoff shows.

Oliver Morgenstern from 'Smith And Jones' is back and in fine form (I've met him).

Donna suggests that footage of a Titanic replica spaceship flying towards Buckingham Palace is actually from a sequel to the famous Leonardo DiCaprio/Kate Winslet film.

There's a Wayne's World moment where Donna and Wilf sing Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.

Rose Tyler tells Donna that The Darkness is coming. Donna tells her that she saw them live in 2004 and they only had one good song.

Donna insults someone by calling them Vera Duckworth.

Mr Chaudhary's wandering hands cause Donna some consternation.

Rose tells Donna two vital words to pass onto The Doctor. The first one is a name of an old enemy last seen in an escape pod. The second is "lives".

Donna has a beetle on her back and soon Wilf finds antlers on his head too.

50

Our 50th post now, to go with Midnight, the 50th episode to be filmed since the show's revival in 2005.

So....

Firstly, Russell T. Davies has been awarded an OBE!

Russell T Davies, the lead writer and executive producer of Doctor Who and the man who has spearheaded the revival of the programme since 2003, has been created an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire - OBE - in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. One of the highest civilian honours available to a British subject, the OBE is awarded by the Queen, on the advice of the Government, and has been given to Davies for his services to drama.

The Times quotes Davies as saying: "I'm delighted to accept, and I hope it does the whole industry a bit of good, for the writing of television drama to be recognised." Davies is the second Doctor Who producer to have been accorded the honour - the late Verity Lambert was given an OBE in 2002.

According to the Press Association, the BBC has released a statement saying: "We are delighted for Russell - he is one of this country's greatest writers and it is fantastic that his talent has been recognised in this way."

The story is covered in many other news sources, including: The Independent, The Guardian, The Scotsman and BBC News. BBC News have also published a profile of Davies.

Secondly, here are the Turn Left promos...

There's also a new DVD version of the Tom Baker story, The Brain Of Morbius. The image is courtesy of DWO.

Bruce Purchase 1938 - 2008

Actor Bruce Purchase has died at his home in London at the age of 69.

Bruce Purchase, who was born in Thames, New Zealand, was best known to Doctor Who viewers for his role as The Captain in the fourth Doctor story The Pirate Planet.

He was a founder member of Sir Laurence Olivier's National Theatre and a regular performer with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

In 2003 he gave the first performance of Johnson is Leaving, John Wain's adaptation of his 1974 biography of Dr Samuel Johnson, at The Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon. Wain wrote the drama especially for Purchase after the two men met in Oxford and Purchase subsequently performed the play around the world.

He appeared opposite Richard Chamberlain in a European tour of My Fair Lady and his television work included I, Claudius, Blakes 7 and Rumpole of the Bailey. His film performances included Richard III and All Quiet on the Western Front.

Purchase's autobiography Changing Skies was published shortly before he died and he was also an accomplished artist who exhibited in London and abroad.

He became seriously ill while touring in a production of The Last Confession last year which also starred David Suchet.

Trial Of A Timelord

Here's some details on the upcoming Trial Of A Timelord boxset.

The Restoration Team has released details of the forthcoming four-disc release of the Trial of a Time Lord DVD box set in the UK.

The 14 episodes, comprising season 23 of the classic era, originally aired between September and December 1986 and featured Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor.

There is a host of extras with the set, including extracts from Blue Peter, Wogan, Points of View, Children In Need, Saturday Picture Show and Open Air.

It will also have deleted and extended scenes, plus the video for the 1985 charity song Doctor In Distress - the celebrity single that was released under the group name Who Cares? in protest at the show's suspension and feared cancellation.

In addition, there is a 55-minute documentary that takes a look at Colin Baker's time as the Doctor. Among those featured are Baker, Nicola Bryant, John Nathan-Turner, Eric Saward and former BBC heads of series and serials David Reid and Jonathan Powell.

The box set is due to be released on August 18.
